The summer time is Death Valley the most busy and hottest season. In August alone, Death Valley National Park welcomed visitors in 2018. In recent years, the park has recorded a significant increase in visitors. From 2009 to 2018 the visits doubled and rose by 30%from 2017 to 2018. Summer is also the hottest season in Death Valley with temperatures of well over 100 degrees F. The Death Valley 2020 made a world record for the hottest place on earth with a confirmed temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Since many people have most of their time and are not at school, this is the most popular time of the year to visit Death Valley, but it may be the miserable temperature.

However, I believe that the best time for Death Valley National Park is late, winter or early spring. The amount is much thinner and the weather is much cooler. In 2018, Death Valley welcomed 80,396 in January; A much lower number than the main summer months. This means that almost 50% fewer people were in January than in August! Fewer people in the park mean fewer people on the paths, fewer cars that fight for parking, and more access to the parking equipment!

We visited in January 2021 and loved it every second. The weather was perfect and while we saw other people on paths, we were never overcrowded. On our first day in the park we only saw about 3 other people. The temperatures were in the 40s at night and up to the high 60s during the day. (Fahrenheit) It was fantastic.
