BEEHIVE Trail is one of the famous round and ladder trails from Acadia. While it is a short 1.4 mile path, it is also one of the more difficult paths from Acadia. The Behehive Trail rises a 450-foot cliff with exposed edges. There are no railings and parts of the path must be climbed or extinguishing ladder are placed for crossing flat. Hikers must wear suitable shoes and be prepared for a steep climb.

My stepfather (63) and I (34) did the beehive without any problems. I didn’t find it particularly difficult, but I wouldn’t take children to the extreme. The view from above is incredible, so it is worth climbing your back with children to get the full view of the park.

If you are looking for a more intensive rung -Ladder -Trail, visit the Acadias Abyss Trail!

Family tip: The front path is not suitable for children, but the summit is accessible from behind (also known as “The Bowl”). When you hike with young children, go clockwise the way to go up the back path. It is a gradual climb without wear.

For the tip: If you are afraid of heights, take the route out of the bowl – don’t try the front of this track.

For the tip: Do not try the front weather in bad weather, as the rungs and the ladders as well as the cliff walls become very slippery.
